The Project

I designed a landing page for a fictional LA gym
as part of my final project for General Assembly’s Visual Design course. I also created a custom
logo and branding kit, which can be viewed on
a separate project page here.

The Idea

The goal was to create a modern, friendly website that showcased fit’s core principles: long-term well-being and inclusivity.
Image of white brick wall texture
Included section for blog posts
that reinforce the brand voice
Space for testimonials from gym members through their profiles
Included CTA to link to a more detailed memberships page
Listed the pricing upfront as this is something user interviewees said is very important, but that is often hidden or hard to find
Secondary CTA buttons in each section link to dedicated pages
Option for multiple images
to rotate through
Main content is organized into alternating block sections
Concern about COVID-19 is one of the top pain points for people deciding to go back to the gym
Decided against using a carousel in the hero section, which is common on gym websites
Top menu is sticky and also has options to view cart or login

The Result

The content tone was heavily influenced by EVERYBODY, a gym located in East LA.
I designed the look and feel to appeal to people looking for a low-pressure community and wellness space. I envisioned an open-plan gym with brick walls and hand-painted signage, which was reflected in the website’s layout and imagery.
